Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams was born February 20, 1902 and died April 22, 1984. Ansel took black and white pictures of national parks and also promoted conservation of wildlife. Ansel Adams was born in San Francisco, his family originated from New England. As a child Ansel was injured by a earthquake that threw him into a wall thus breaking his nose, it was never properly set, so it remained crooked his entire life. Ansel was a hyperactive and sickly child, he was dismissed from multiple schools due to bad behavior. He was tutored by private tutors and his family ever since he was twelve. 
      He taught himself how to play the piano which would become his early passion. In 1916 he went on a trip to Yosemite National Park, thats when he began experimenting with photography.In 1928, Ansel Adams married Virginia Best, the daughter of the Best’s Studio proprietor. Virginia inherited the studio from her artist father on his death in 1935, and the Adamses continued to operate the studio until 1971. The business, now known as the Ansel Adams Gallery, remains in the family. 
Between 1929 to 1942, Adams' work and reputation. Adams expanded his repertoire, focusing on detailed close ups as well as large forms, from mountains to factories. He spent time in New Mexico with artist including Alfred Stieglitz, Georgia O'keeffe and Paul Strandt. He began writing instructional book for photography.
