Filling the Frame

This picture fills the frame with all kinds of interesting things. There are students playing with dry ice and the smoke created by the dry ice.

Action and emotion

This picture portrays action and emotion because the students are messing with the teacher and all three people are showing a lot of emotions by smiling and joking around.

The Story

I think this picture shows a story, because in the picture you can see how much fun they are having learning. They seem to be enjoying the class and the experiment they are conducting. You can tell they like the class that they are in and they most likely like the teacher also.

Unusual photo part2, 2nd photo

1. I chose this photo because I like how it is black and white and also that light coming from above in this photo.
2. Sports Action
3. 2nd place
4. He made the picture black and white.
5. I think the judges really thought it was cool because they obviously chose this photo for 2nd place
6. He had to be standing on the actual track to get this photo.

Unusual Photo part 2, 1st photo

1. I picked this photo because I really like it, I love the color contrast and I like how you can see the damage done by the grasshoppers and also the grasshoppers themselves.
2. Photo Journalist of the Year.
3. 1st place baby!
4. What drew me to this photo was the colors.
5. I think it weighed on their minds a lot because seeing that man walk through his destroyed makes you feel really bad for him.
6. He had to actually go into the crops to get that photo.

Unusual and interesting photos part 1

Christian Rhum

1. I really like is work, its really cool and kind of abstract. I think its cool how he did that and I would also like to know how to do that.

2. I think he took three photos of the same subject, then made them overlap each other with different angles.

3. I think a excellent building for these kinds of pictures would be the Frost Bank Tower, Austin Texas.
You would have easy access to that building because it is just downtown in this very city.

Photo manipulation.

Photo Manipulation

A.)The point of the story is that you should not cheat to get a better a photo or story, because you are basically lying to the public and saying that this is how it happened although that is not how it actually happened. The story gave examples of what has happened to people in the past because they want to get the point across that cheating is not ok. You wont just lose your job and have to get into another newspaper, you will lose your whole career just because you wanted your photo to look better than before.

B.) I have to different views on this subject. I mainly think it is unethical and unacceptable to change your original photo so you can make yourself look better. But if you change a absolutely minor detail of a photo then i think it is acceptable. Something that will not change the whole photo.

Merger

I chose this picture to show a merger because the trees are blocking the main focus of the picture. Mergers are when there is something in the photo that takes attention away from the main focus. Like tress blocking your view or other obstacles obstructing the photo.

Framing

This photo demonstrates framing because the buildings all surround the smoke plume, thus framing the center of the picture.

Balance

This photo shows balance because the content in the image is nearly symmetrical. There are cars in the middle of the street and cars on both sides. Balance is when the photo seems to add up and all fit together.  When there is nothing off about the picture.

Lines

This photo demonstrates lines because the lines on the buildings go directly towards the focus on the picture. Lines basically just have to be existing and going all in one direction.

The Rule of Thirds

This photo demonstrates the rule of thirds because if you were to cut this photo in to three sections of three all squares would have a important part of the picture in it.

Simplicity

This photo shows simplicity because there is only one thing in the focus of the picture. There are no surrounding building or anything, just one building and the smoke.

Touching Strangers

Touching Strangers

1. I think its a good idea, but it is not something I would want to do. I feel as if it would be very awkward, so I would not really want to do it.
2. I think i would say yes to the first photo, but if they asked for more pictures I would probably have to say no.
3. I think it would be fun to go out and shoot people when their caught off guard.
4. I though they were good photograph, I enjoyed looking at them because the people all looked pretty awkward and reluctant to take those photos.

My #3 photo from the top 40

   1. I liked this photo because its nothing like anyone has ever seen before. It is an actual picture of earth from the surface of the moon.
2. I just saw the earth and was instantly intrigued by the picture.
3. This photo was top 40 because its not jus some picture any lucky photographer could get. This is a picture only a few men in history could take.

My #2 photo from the top 40

                                                                                        Rich Lam

1. I love how in this photo there is chaos in the front and back ground but in the the focus of the there is love and peace.
2. I liked the color in the photo, which is why i looked at the picture  in the beginning.
3. I think this photo made the top 40 because of the same reasons that I liked it. Because there is chaos all around but in the middle there is peace and love.

My number one photo from the top 40

                                                           Vanderlei Almeida

1. I chose this photo because I really like how emotional this photo is. It makes you feel sad and I like that it has such power.
2. No, only the actual photo drew my attention towards it.
3. I believe it made the top 40 list because it is a very powerful picture, it carries a lot of emotion with it.         I also believe the photographer had a very nice angle, I like that the dog is not looking at the camera but staring off into the distance as if it were also sad.

Metal

Square
Happy

Bowie

1. There were a few challenges regarding the actual photography used to take the picture. There were many things to choose from for every category.
2. The objective I found myself thinking about the most was the lighting of the photos.
3. I dont think I would change anything with these photos. Honestly I love these photos, I would not change a thing about these photos.
4. I would do everything the same, I would use all the same photos.
5.
Metal: I think I achieved lines in this photo because the lines on the ground are running parallel to the photos.
Square: I think I used frame for this picture because the flowers make a frame around the square sign.
Happy: I think I used simplicity for this photo because there is only one object focus in the picture.
Bowie: I think I also frame for this picture because the object in the photo is literally framed.
6. No Im not interested in shooting it again because I already did, sure it was fun but I wouldn't want to do it again.

8. What is the Sports mode used for? (not just sports) How does it work? To freeze motion, camera will use the highest shutter speed possible.

The Half Press

9. Why should you do a half press on the trigger button? It can give you more focus on the picture, it encourages better composition, and it gives the camera a faster response

Controlling Flash

10. What does this symbol mean? It means that the flash is not on.

When would you use this? You would use this when you are outside or somewhere bright.
